Extended Health and Dental Care
Extended and Dental Health Care premiums are shared payments between residents and the Employer. As of January 1, 2013 residents pay 10% and the Employer pays 90% of the premiums.
Pacific Blue Cross (PBC) provides the actual coverage for Extended, and Dental Health Care. Residents will receive an application form in their UBC Welcome Package to be sent back to the Health Shared Services BC (HSSBC), Employee Records and Benefits, Vancouver Coastal Health department. Residents are administered under a group plan through HSSBC.
Residents should receive their PBC cards in their address provided on their application form. If you do not receive these within 3 months of submitting your application form you can contact HSSBC, Records and Benefits, VCH Department at:

If you would like to change your address, or add a dependent to your Extended and Dental Health Care plan, please contact HSSBC.
Submitting Claims:
Residents should register for an online CARESnet account on the Pacific Blue Cross site for 24 hour web access to your plan benefits and claim history information. You will need your Pacific Blue Cross card, or your ID and Group numbers.
