Sep, 15, 2014 to Sep, 15, 2014 16:00 PMto 16:00 PM 2014/2015 Council of Program Representative Nominations Open The Council is comprised of one to two representatives from each program and this is your chance to make sure your colleagues have a voice. Each group of residents has unique needs that can only be fulfilled if they are brought forward. Nominations for these positions will be accepted September 15th through September 29th. Interested residents from each program are encouraged to put their name forward. If there is more interested residents than positions, then an online election will occur October 1st through 8th, 2014, with each program voting on their candidates as needed. The Council meets two to three times a year or at the request of the chair so the time commitment is not onerous. Representatives are responsible for sharing information from PAR-BC with program colleagues and relaying any issues and concerns to PAR-BC. We hope to create a system of bidirectional (and mutually beneficial) information sharing. This will be key as we implement the new Collective Agreement. Council members are also encouraged (but not required) to participate on internal committees and to provide cross program collaboration.

Breakfast will be available from 7:30 to 8:00 am. The workshop involves an interactive mock accreditation review conducted by the survey team. The mock survey team will meet with the Program Director, the Resident Group, and the Faculty and Resident Program Committee. May, 06, 2012 to May, 06, 2012 16:00 PMto 16:00 PM MCCQE II The Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part II is a three-hour Objective-Structured Clinical Examination that assesses the competence of candidates, specifically the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for medical licensure in Canada prior to entry into independent clinical practice. This examination consists of a series of five-minute and ten-minute clinical stations. At each station, a brief written statement introduces a clinical problem and directs the candidate to appropriately examine a standardized (simulated) patient as well as perform activities such as obtaining a focused history, conducting a focused physical examination, or assessing and addressing the patient’s issues. Candidates may be asked to answer specific questions related to the patient, interpret x-rays or the results of other investigations, make a diagnosis and/or write admission orders. The Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part II includes problems in Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Preventive Medicine and Community Health, Psychiatry and Surgery, as well as in similar disciplines considered essential for competence in general medicine and health care.
