Living in BC

Parksville

Parksville is best known for its sandy beaches, and hosts the “Parksville Beachfest”, which is a sand-sculpting contest. Locally, Parksville, Qualicum Beach, French Creeks, Coombs, Errington, and Nanoose are collectively called the community of “Oceanside”.

Transit

Parksville’s transit is provided by Nanaimo Regional Transit. It serves the area from Cedar (in South Nanaimo) to Qualicum Beach in the North. It is in integrated system with service in urban and rural areas, and dedicated connections for shopping, educational, and recreational uses. For more information, please see their Rider’s Guide here.

When traveling, there are several fare options.

  • Employer Passes – some of the hospitals have employer passes that you can join but they require a minimum one-year commitment.
  • Monthly Passes – These can be used an unlimited number of times per month. For adults, the cost is $67.50.

* Resident Tip: Save your monthly passes, because you could be eligible for a federal tax credit

  • DayPass – These can be used an unlimited number of times per day. For adults, the cost is $6.25.
  • 10 Tickets – Purchasing a booklet of 10 tickets are more cost efficient than buying single fares. For adults, the cost for this is $22.50

  •  There is one option that is not available to you that you may hear about:
