Prince George

Prince George is Northern BC’s largest city and boasts many activities and attractions. Some resident recommended activities include floating down Nechako River, horseback riding at the nearby ranches and many hikes including: Tea Pot Mountain, Ancient Forest Trail, Grizzly Den, and Forests for the World. There are several campgrounds in the area including resident recommended Bear Lake, and Purden Lake.

Resident recommended children’s activities include Exploration Place (333 Becott Place), Art Gallery (2820 15th Avenue) and the Aquatic Centre (1100 Patricia Boulevard). Prince George also hosts a Cineplex Odeon (172-1600 15th Avenue).

Residents have also recommended several daytrips in the area including Barkerville, Powder Keg Ski Resort, and hiking at Mount Robson or Fang Mountain.

Transit

When traveling on the Prince George Regional Transit System there are several fare options.

  • Monthly Pass – These provide unlimited travel for the month and offer a discount over purchasing daily fare. It costs $54.00 for adults.

* Resident Tip: Save your monthly passes, because you could be eligible for a federal tax credit

  • Day Pass – This option provides unlimited travel on the day purchased. It costs $5.00 for adults.
  • Tickets – These are a book of ten tickets that offer savings over buying single fares. It costs $17.00 for adults.
  • Single Fares – Can be purchased on the bus (exact change only). It costs $2.25 for adults.

There is one option that is not available to you that you may hear about:

  • U-Pass – UBC has a program for its students to provide transit savings, however as a resident you are classed as a learner so that you only pay registration fees not tuition. You are however entitled to some UBC perks such as a library card.
