Good morning,
Following up on our message below that was sent on Monday, we wanted to clarify that:
Candidates from specialties other than family medicine, who are eligible to take the Part II, should consider taking the exam in spring 2015 instead of fall 2015, given projected high candidate volumes for the fall
exam. Candidates need to have completed 12 months of postgraduate training to be eligible. For more information, visit [http://mcc.ca/2014/11/spring-2015-mccqe-part-ii-application/]
Family medicine candidates who are eligible to take the Certification Exam in 2015 are encouraged to take the harmonized Certification Exam, which will be offered in spring and fall 2015. Since the exam is harmonized and
success on it leads to the CCFP and LMCC, candidates who pass it will not need to take the MCCQE Part II. Candidates who want to register for this examination should contact CFPC directly: [http://www.cfpc.ca/Home/].
Family medicine candidates who are eligible to take the Certification Exam in spring 2016 will need to take the MCCQE Part II separately. These candidates may take the exam in fall 2015 or spring 2016.
Registration for the fall 2015 exam is expected to open in May 2015. We encourage those who are interested to sign up to our distribution list to receive notification when registration opens (see bottom of the following
page: [http://mcc.ca/examinations/mccqe-part-ii/application-information/].
After sending the message on Monday, we noticed that several candidates were applying for the MCCQE Part II when they were eligible to take the Certification Examination in Family Medicine in 2015. Any candidate who has registered for the spring 2015 MCCQE Part II, but wishes to instead take the Certification Examination in 2015 should send MCC a message through their physiciansapply.ca <http://physiciansapply.ca> account.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have further questions.
Best regards,
M. Ian Bowner, MD, CM, FRCPC
