Where can I find more information on my Benefits?
Residents’ receive Extended and Dental benefits through the Employer’s Group Benefit Plan, you can access the summary and booklet by logging into the member section. Your benefits begin 1 month after enrollment (usually this is August 1st, if you begin residency on July 1st). Enrollment forms are sent to residents via the UBC appointment package, if your address has changed please ensure that you update this information with Health Shared Services BC (HSSBC) the administrator of VCH Employee Benefits. You may also add your dependants to the plan by contacting HSSBC.
Under Article 15 of the Collective Agreement, premiums for the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) are also paid by the Employer. Coverage begins 1 month after enrollment (usually this is August 1st, if you begin residency on July 1st). MSP coverage for residents who are new to BC must complete a waiting period of 2 months excluding the month of arrival; to review the eligibility requirements please see the website: http://www.health.gov.bc.ca/msp/infoben/eligible.html#when

How do I file a claim?
Benefits are administered through Pacific Blue Cross. Claims can be made online through CARESnet or by phone.
To file a claim you will need your group health or dental number and your ID number from your benefits card. If you do not have these numbers please contact Health Shard Services BC to obtain them. Their hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
