I am experiencing issues with my program, what should I do?
In working with your program, to resolve any issues that occur:
- Review the training objectives established for your program
- Review your rights available through UBC, including their policies
- Review the Collective Agreement
- Obtain a copy of your file and any other documentation your program is relying on and familiarize yourself with it
- Ask for supporting documentation – your program should not rely on any documentation they are unwilling to share with you or claim is "confidential"
- Be thorough in your own documentation
- Seek a meeting with your Program Director, be prepared, determine the outcome you want and work towards it, draft your points in advance and develop alterntatives
- Follow-up the meeting with a written letter to your Program Director laying out your understanding of what was discussed and agreed upon
- Do not allow issues or disscussions to drag on
You must be given the opportunity to respond to any allegations, and should there by any disciplinary meetings with your program, you are entitled to have representation present. If at any time you need assistance, PAR-BC is available to support residents. Please contact PAR-BC if you require assistance.
If you are interested in additional support outside of PAR-BC and UBC, please contact EFAP or PHP.
