What sick leave am I eligible for?

Residents receive paid sick leave as soon as residency begins (this is the date of your UBC contract). The length of sick leave is determined by when you are eligible for Long Term Disability (LTD) coverage. For example, if your LTD plan begins 6 months after sick leave, then you will be on paid sick leave for 6 months. Article 10 of the Collective Agreement states:

The Employer Shall not cause a Resident to suffer loss of pay or benefits due to sickness or accident while in a Residency Program
