Advocacy & Policy
This committee will ensure Policy & Advocacy issues are prioritized and consistent messaging is developed to enhance collaboration with CAIR’s key partners in this domain including the CMA, Federal Government, and the public.
The Advocacy Committee will oversee such initiatives as:
- Resident debt
- Physician resources as they pertain to residents
- National issues that affect a residents’ professional experience
Awards Committee
The Awards Committee has the responsibility to assess applications/worthy individuals for the CAIR Awards within the guidelines approved by the CAIR Board. The Committee also recommends to the CAIR Board nominees for national awards on which CAIR input is invited.

Board of Directors
CAIR is the national representative body of over 7,500 Resident Physicians in Canada. CAIR works collaboratively with other national health organizations to continuously improve patient care and explore new approaches in the delivery of health care. CAIR facilitates discussions amongst PHOs, achieving consensus on policy and advocacy issues of a national interest. CAIR also delivers improvement to the lives of Residents in such areas as personal well-being, medical education quality, and professionalism.

Education & Professionalism
This committee will ensure consistent messaging and collaboration with CAIR’s key partners in this domain including the CFPC, RCPSC, AFMC, CaRMS, MCC, and CAPER.
All committee members would be aware of the entire portfolio, but smaller numbers may be assigned a more prominent role in specific areas.
The Education Committee will oversee such things as:
• Exam issues
• Accreditation
• Curriculum development
• National issues that affect a residents’ educational experience.
Issues pertaining to IMGs could also fall into this committee’s realm.
Member Outreach
The Member Outreach Committee will oversee such things as resident awareness day, issues of well-being, meaningful contact with resident members, and issues that affect a residents’ personal experience during all stages of the resident lifecycle that are best addressed at a national level.

CAIR Liaison Positions
Liaisons represent the mission, vision, values and policies of CAIR in all interactions with national stakeholder organizations, advocating the collective interests of residents in educational, professional and well-being issues.
Liaisons attend all liaison meetings and teleconferences of the organization to which CAIR is invited; immediately following a meeting or teleconference, liaisons provide CAIR with a written report using the CAIR report template about the meeting, summarizing key issues as they relate to CAIR, and identifying issues requiring action by CAIR.
